From red carpet fashion to award winners, the 2014 BAFTAs is currently the main topic of discussion here at A.
The award ceremony essentially became a contest between 2 films on opposite ends of the spectrum (Gravity and 12 Years A Slave), ending with Gravity going home the biggest winner, in terms of numbers at least. Gravity’s six-award sweep was definitely impressive, however, has also sparked debate on whether the film was that good. Nonetheless, 12 Years A Slave did take home the best award of the night, winning best picture. Discussions regarding the best supporting actress award was also a little heated, with Jennifer Lawrence taking the award for American Hustle, despite people hoping it would go to 12 Years A Slave’s Lupita Nyong’o.
On to fashion and the attendees didn’t disappoint. Hollywood’s Brangelina arrived in his-and-hers matching outfits in Valentino and Saint Laurent. Cate Blanchett makes elegant look effortless in Alexander Mcqueen and finally, Lupita Nyong’o graced the red carpet in Dior, needless to say, she did it flawlessly.
Overall, the BAFTAs seems to have everyone geared up for the Oscars in two weeks time, not to forget the BRITs, scheduled to take place this Wednesday.
